Post Christmas Holiday Sale at Nordstrom

Merry Christmas!

I hope you had the happiest of holidays.  I have been enjoying the company of wonderful friends and family and have been off work this week.

Nordstrom has a really great post holiday Clearance Sale going on.  It looks like they’ve abandoned the old format of “Half Yearly” sales and are doing 6 sales aligned with holidays now.

I perused the online selection and I noticed a few items of note:

Proenza Schouler Small PS Courier Crossbody bag

This cute bag is on sale for 60% off.  Kind of trendy, but you don’t often see Proenza Schoulers on sale at all.

Giraffe at Home

Nordstrom has all Giraffe at Home pillows and throws (and curiously, 1 robe) for 20% off.  These are so unbelievably soft!  I treated myself to one over the summer during the Anniversary Sale.  The Anniversary Sale pricing was only marginally better at 25% off and didn’t include the pillows and some of the prints, so this is a great opportunity to pick up one of these classic throws.

There are a few goodies in the Zella sale section.  This hoodie in available in both Regular and Plus.

Nordstrom expanding to Canada

I realized that I never ended up blogging about my favorite store Nordstrom expanding to my homeland Canada!  Woohoo! I grew up in Canada and Canada’s retail landscape has been sorely lacking an upscale department store with superior customer service.  After Eatons’ closed, the Bay and Holt Renfrew were the only game in town. I think a lot of consumers were driven to more boutique type stores and it allowed those to flourish.

Nordstrom opened its first store at the Chinook Center in Calgary in September 2014.  It is currently constructing 5 more stores by the end of 2017: Rideau Center in Ottawa, Yorkdale, Eaton Center and Sherway Gardens in Toronto and the Pacific Centre Vancouver.  I was recently in Toronto and saw the massive construction effort that is happening in the Yorkdale parking lot!  It is so exciting to see that they will have a brand new building at Yorkdale.  It is also *really* exciting to hear that they will be taking over the old Eatons’ location at the Eaton Center.

Canadian Nordstrom shoppers have been able to shop Nordstrom.com for awhile now, since Nordstrom does do International shipping (so shoppers from Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and beyond can also shop!).  However, there is nothing like stepping foot in a Nordstrom store and experiencing the incredible customer service that they are known for, as well as the (fun) madness that is the first day of the Anniversary Sale!

I’ve also heard that there are eventually plans to open Nordstrom Rack stores in Canada as well.  How exciting for the Canadian market!  Right now, Winners is the main player in that sector of retail but I think Nordstrom Rack is far superior in the quality of goods you can find as well as the organization of the store.

Any shoppers from Canada visiting my blog?  Tell me, what are you more excited for: Nordstrom in Canada or Nordstrom Rack in Canada?

Cyber Monday!

Hope you’ve had an excellent Thanksgiving weekend!  It is Cyber Monday and there are some awesome deals online!  Here’s where I’m shopping today.

Nordstrom is doing extra bonus points for card holders.  Double Points (aka 4 points per dollar) for Level 1 fashion rewards members and 10 points per dollar for Level 2-4!  Woohoo!  Ten points per dollar equates to 10% back as a Nordstrom Note!  I bought some Corso Como boots, some Hue leggings and a Kiind of Parka.

Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids are both having Free Shipping days!  Advent calendars are now 40% off so I picked up the Telluride Advent Calendar for our family!  I’ve been waiting for this guy to go on sale for awhile now!

Anthropologie is doing Free Shipping today and 20% off sale items.  I’m going to browse the sale rack this afternoon for dresses.

Hanna Anderson is doing Free Shipping today and 15% off everything.  My friend told me about their amazing training underpants for toddlers so I am picking up some of those!

Happy Shopping!

Liberty of London Love

When we went to London last year on our family vacation, I met up with a friend who introduced me to the Liberty department store and Liberty Art Fabrics.  I completely fell in love and since then, I’ve been noticing Liberty of London prints everywhere!  Funny how that happens!  It is definitely a very specific look and not for everyone, as it is kind of old fashioned, but I love it in small doses.

The Liberty department store was really cool–shaped like a ship and had a whole floor devoted to haberdashery–mostly fabrics and notions.  The neat thing about Liberty prints is that they are used by many different companies.  Hello Kitty, Peek Clothing and even Target have all done collaborations with Liberty.

Liberty of London sold bolts of fabric in various Hello Kitty prints and Sanrio made special Hello Kitty items with the prints.  They were so cute!  I wish I had the talent to sew something special with the fabric for my daughter but alas, my sewing skills leave much to be desired!

I’ve seen that Peek has used Liberty of London art fabrics for the past few years that I have known about them.  I don’t know if its a permanent thing or not, but I’m glad they are an option!  Peek clothing looks really well made and has cute designs.  It is a little more expensive than what I normally buy for my toddler but I would definitely splurge on a special outfit.

The Liberty for Target collaboration happened a few years ago before I had ever heard of Liberty (and was not paying too much attention to Target designer collabs!) so its a bummer I missed out because there are some really cute items in apparel and home.  Fingers crossed they might do a return collection someday?

Have you seen Liberty of London prints around?  Do you love it or is it not really your style?
