My Anniversary Sale Haul!

Here’s my haul from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!  I spent quite a bit but I think I found some really awesome pieces that will have a lot of wear.

I pretty much only bought tops this time around since I didn’t really need any jeans, shoes or beauty products at the moment and the handbag I want wasn’t on sale. 🙂

I thought this was really cute with the mixed fabrics.  It was also a great length for wearing untucked. I found that a bunch of the other tops I tried on today would be better with a belt or tucked into a skirt.

Pleione Split Neck Blouse

This one will be great under a blazer.  It was also at a great price point.

Lush Perfect Henley

This was a great find in BP. The color is really pretty.  My friend got it in pink, I got it in lilac.

I’m a sucker for a hoodie but I’m kind of re-thinking this one right now.  I loved it, but I’m not sure how much I’ll wear it on the weekends.

Chloe K Lace Inset Top

This shirt reminds me of one of my favorite Anniversary Sale buys ever, a Frenchi blouse, that I burned a hole into with a too hot iron!  It’s the same beautiful shade of green with the lace inset.  However, it runs EXTREMELY SMALL.  To the point that it is practically childrenswear.  I normally wear a size XS or 0 and I bought this in a Large.  Granted, I liked it a little looser on me, but I tried on every size: XS, S, M and L.  The XS and S, I could barely get into.  The arms were really tight and the shoulders were really narrow.  The Medium was more acceptable but I liked the way the Large fit the best.

Halogen Relaxed U-Neck Tshirt

I loved this t-shirt. It is plain but it fit well and I liked the weight of it. The white t-shirt is a little sheer, so I would go with a brightly colored one instead. If you go with a white t-shirt, I think you’d need a base layer.

That’s all for me.  I might end up shopping a little more for my little one later this week, but she is a little unpredictable in sizing so its hard to buy ahead for her!  Did you shop the sale this morning?  What did you get?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is open for Early Access!

I decided to stay up and wait for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale to open up for early access!

Here are my picks for the hot items for the sale!

Vince Drape Neck Leather Jacket

Vince Drape Neck Leather Jacket
Vince Drape Neck Leather Jacket (Sale Price: $665.90)

I think this might be *the* hot item of the sale.  Vince is so popular right now and its a beautiful leather jacket in limited supply.  If this is what you want… order it fast!  If its unavailable, work with a sales associate to find one and keep an eye out on the website for re-stocking.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Hobo

MARC BY MARC JACOBS Hobo
MARC BY MARC JACOBS Hobo (Sale Price: $292.90)

This is another item that will for sure sell out.  It’s a classic MBMJ hobo purse and in a lovely color and at a fantastic price point.  I actually already own a grey MBMJ and love it 🙂

Mcginn Carly Moto Jacket

I am loving all of these moto jackets.  A few years ago it was capes which I was not into, but I can get behind this trend. This one looks beautiful and I ordered it!  Can’t wait to try it on.

See anything amazing?  I have heard grumblings that this sale isn’t great anymore, but I am seeing a lot of things I’m interested in and having a hard time editing down my cart! 🙂

2014 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Tips

Early Access for the 2014 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts TOMORROW!  OMG I can hardly contain myself.  According to the online chat customer service, the website will be updated at midnight PST with everything available in the sale.  I will definitely be staying up to see what they unveil!  I also have a shopping appointment tomorrow during the day with one of my friends.  We go every year together and its now an unofficial tradition of ours 🙂

After shopping the sale for a number of years now, there are a few tips I’ve picked up along the way that I’d like to share.

1. Know what goes fast and go for that first

Nordstrom Hinge Victoriana Jacket
This Nordstrom Hinge Victoriana Jacket sold out instantly on the first day.

There are always 1-2 hot items from the sale that will sell out immediately.  One year, it was Tory Burch boots.  Another year it was the beautiful jacket above that was featured on the cover of the catalog.  This year, I’m not quite sure what it will be.  Perhaps the Vince Two-Tone Coat or maybe the Rag and Bone Moto jacket.  If you aren’t able to shop early access, or if the item you want sells out, don’t worry, there is separate stock allocated to the public sale as well.

2. Be a Nordstrom Card Holder!

Nordstrom Visa Signature Card
Nordstrom Visa Signature Card

Besides being the absolute prettiest card in my wallet, Nordstrom card holders get to shop Early Access which starts 8 days before the public sale.  This is great for the impatient shopper like me who wanted to see the catalog in June!  Haha!  Nordstrom card holders will earn double points during the sale towards Nordstrom Notes (e.g. gift certificates).  Nordstrom card holders also have special perks like free alterations and when you shop enough to be in the higher levels, there are things like invitations to the holiday party and private parties.  I’ve been to the holiday party and it is SO MUCH FUN.  Not to mention, the past few years it has been 10 points per $1 spent on your Nordstrom card!

3. Make an appointment with a sales associate

If you typically shop with a stylist all year round, then this will be easy. I’m sure your sales associate will have already called you to make an appointment!  If you’re like me and don’t normally shop with a sales associate then you’ll have to just find someone to book with.  I called my favorite department a few weeks ago and booked an appointment with someone.  Working with a sales associate is great because they can help you track down your favorite items and they can also help pull all of the items you’re interested in and put them aside in a room for you so that you don’t have to deal with the chaos of the first shopping day if you don’t want to.

4. Make a list of what you want from each department

In preparation for your shopping appointment, make a list of all the must-see items from each department you want to visit so you don’t forget anything.  If you’re shopping the first day of early access or the first day of the public sale, it gets pretty crazy in the store.  If I don’t make a list, I tend to forget about things and I will blow my budget and forget to buy some of the essentials I came for!  I try to mark down department by department what items I want to check out in the catalog.

Will you be shopping the sale on Thursday (or next Friday)?  I will be online at midnight eagerly awaiting the site re-opening with the Anniversary items, then at the store on Thursday bright and early!  Can’t wait to see what you all get! 🙂
